Caribou a lunettes Cultural mediator
Bloomfield Hills, MI
Bonjour! I am a cultural mediator based in Detroit, MI. My mother tongue is French, but I am not from France.
Living abroad, I have discovered how the language is deeply part of my identity, and how some comments on our own language can be hurtful. This is called linguistic insecurity.
To cultivate confidence, I am promoting a more diverse linguistic environment to teach the French language, as well as including the multiple cultures associated to it. Through the Caribou à lunettes, I help teachers to connect students with books, local resources and key people to make it useful to learn the language.
In Detroit, I have discovered a rich Francophone vibe, carried by several communities. I am coordinating events and activities to get people together and bridge the past and the present to value every individual and their story.
We are 11 million French-speakers in the US, let's be proud of all our backgrounds and accents!
