Following scholarship on the march to Montreal in of the survivors of the Raid on Deerfield and its aftermath as well as recent reconsideration of the life of Catherine Tekakwitha, the first Iroquois saint, this presentation investigates the role of assimilation and resistance in the lives of early native Americans and Canadians and suggests how intercultural and transnational perspectives can be integrated into a literature or civilization course.
